The SASA project, formed by Fair Trade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), Social Accountability International (SAI), Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) and International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), aims to harmonise the social certifications in agriculture. In 2002 and 2003, 12 audits have been and will be held throughout the world, including in Brazil.
BSD, through its director and FLO auditor Beat Grüninger, conducted a pilot audit in a fair trade orange juice production project in the State of São Paulo.
To enable stakeholder inclusion in the auditing process as well as in the evaluation of the results, internet discussions and meetings were held, during and after the audit.
