BSD – Business meets Social Development Ltd., was founded in Switzerland in 1998 as a consulting firm specialized in Corporate Social Responsibility and Fair Trade. At current time, BSD maintains branches in Zurich, Switzerland, S‹o Paulo, Brazil and Bogota, Colombia.

Our mission is to offer solutions to organizations interested in differentiated management and long-term competitive advantages through the integration of sustainability into their strategies, processes and organizational culture.

We are specialists in applying social norms and models to manage Corporate Social Responsibility. BSD is the only organization in Brazil accredited as an Assurance Provider by the Institute of Social and Ethical Accountability for the standard AccountAbility 1000 (AA1000S). We have a working partnership with SAI – Social Accountability International to organize Auditor Trainings for the norm SA8000, and recently signed an alliance with UniEthos, where BSD will provide content on AA1000, SA8000 and GRI for training courses.

Regarding Fair Trade, BSD is the Brazilian partner of FLO - Fair Trade Labelling Organizations International. We provide services in the field of information transfer to interested agricultural producer’s communities and support them on their way to Fair Trade certification. Furthermore, we act as matchmakers, seeking for suitable producers to meet Fair Trade market demands. BSD developed studies in the area of Fair Trade, together with the Business school FGV S‹o Paulo, the Government of the State Paran‡ and the World Bank.

At current time, BSD is the leading coordinator of a global program on Sustainable Supply Chain Management, financed by SECO, the Federal Secretariat of Economic Affairs of Switzerland.
