In co-operation with ISEA - Institute of Social and Ethical Accountability, Instituto Ethos and Fundação Dom Cabral, BSD conducted the first part of the project Brazilian contribution to AA1000S in 2002.
The project, with sponsors such as Copel, Souza Cruz and Fundação Belgo Mineira, and the support of the Companhia Siderúrgica Tubarão, Paranapanema and SESI Nacional, brought together companies, leaders and Brazilian universities to build on the series of AA1000S standards.
The project disseminated the ideas of the AA1000 standard, still little known in Brazil, through a seminar in October 2002 in São Paulo and 7 regional meetings in Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo. In total, 300 people participated.
The project also included:
-
Initiating the contual and language adaptation process to be used in the Brazilian context. More than 350 copies of a careful translation of the AA1000 original and the first module of the series AA1000S were distributed;
-
The Brazilian contribution to the first module (Assurance Framework) of the series AA1000S was elaborated and forwarded to AccountAbility;
-
Brazilian professionals in the area of corporate responsibility came together to start building a co-operation network for the AA1000S elaboration process;
-
The profile study of these interested specialists permits planning of the next steps of the project "Brazilian Contribution to the AA1000S Series".
This project will find its continuation in the establishment of a virtual network of professionals and companies working in the area of corporate responsibility. The network will, amongst other activities, work on the edition of the coming modules of AA1000S.
